Shopping from abroad in Greece
Whether you’re an expat missing the shops back home or a local hunting a better price, buying from abroad and having it delivered to Greece is often cheaper — if you know which stores ship here and what customs will add. This guide keeps it simple.
How cross-border shopping into Greece works
The Greek high street and local sites don’t carry everything, and prices on imported goods can be steep. Ordering directly from a marketplace or a store abroad opens up far more choice — Amazon’s European sites, eBay and Etsy sellers worldwide, AliExpress, and fashion or electronics brands that ship internationally.
The two things to get right every time are delivery and the true price. Not every store ships to Greece, and anything coming from outside the EU picks up VAT, sometimes customs duty, and a courier clearance fee. Sort those two out and cross-border shopping is genuinely worth it.
A quick checklist before you buy
- Will it ship here? Check the ships-to-Greece directory.
- What’s the real total? Run it through the import calculator.
- EU or non-EU? EU orders avoid customs entirely — see the duty & VAT guide.
- Is it actually cheaper? Compare the price across marketplaces on OroScout and filter to what ships to you.
